They say it takes 21 days to form a habit.
They lie.
For 21 days she held on.
But on Day 22, she would have given anything for the sweet slumber of death.
Because on Day 22, she realizes that her only way out means certain death for one of the two men she loves.

A haunting tale of passion, loss, and redemption, The Paper Swan is a darkly intense yet heartwarming love story, textured with grit, intrigue, and suspense. Please note: This is NOT a love triangle.

A full-length, standalone novel, intended for mature audiences due to violence, sex and language. Subject matter may be disturbing for some readers.

*I purchased the e-book from Amazon*

“We are sand and rock and water and sky, anchors on ships and sails in the wind. We are a journey to a destination that shifts every time we dream or fall or keep or weep. We are stars with flaws that still sparkle and shine. We always strive, always want, always have more questions than answers, but there are moments like these, full of magic and contentment, when souls get a glimpse of the divine and quite simply, lose their breath.”

Oh wow…. I’m just struggling for the right words here. I just finished and I’m speechless. This is one of those books where there’s not much to say apart from JUST READ IT! The blurb sums it up perfectly.

I had been hearing about this book constantly for days, so I had to see if it was all that. And it was. It. So. Was.
Things aren’t always black and white. What started off as a dark story soon became something completely different, and like Skye, I was captured. Damian drew me in and I didn’t want to leave.

I don’t want to say anything about the story, because I don’t want to give anything away. It is definitely better to go into this blind and just take the journey with the characters. I will say this though, because a few people have asked… THERE IS NO LOVE TRIANGLE.

Even though The Paper Swan is told mainly from Skye’s point of view, I felt this was Damian’s story. His back story was heartbreaking. He had his childhood torn away, he experienced betrayal, loss, and brutality. He was forced into a life of crime, but all the time he was driven by only one thing. Vengeance. I understood his motives, but I wanted him to be able to rise above that need so that he could be happy. Skye is the key to everything. She is his key to revenge, but she is also the key to happiness. He can’t have it both ways, something has to give.

“You can either choose love or you can choose hate, because where one lives, the other will die.”

There are twists and turns in this story, some I saw coming, some I didn’t. Even the fact that I had worked out most of the twists didn’t hamper my enjoyment of this book. I absolutely loved the characters, I was gripped by the story, and the writing was beautiful. I know this is going to be one of those books that stays with me long after the last page has been turned.

“You don’t always get the treasure by holding on. Sometimes the magic happens when you let go.”
