Belén: I’ve loved Luciano ever since I can remember, desired him before I even knew what it meant. He’s always been the only man in my life—my constant protector, and his rejection only intensifies my need.

Luciano: I’ve never known a love more fierce than the one I feel for Belén. But I force myself to deny her no matter how much it hurts.

Our love is a sickness and both of us are infected.

Because there’s no cure for being from the same family.

Wow, this one was different to anything I’ve read before and I’m stuck for words! I’m not a huge reader of taboo stories but after hearing Joanne rave about this one, I knew I needed to pick it up.

I finished reading Maldeamores before bed one night and I was still thinking about it when I woke up the next morning. I loved the writing style, the author used her words sparingly, no over the top, unnecessary description, yet she still managed to make me feel so much. She made me almost as desperate as Belén and Luciano were, as much as it was seen to be wrong, I was rooting so hard for things to work out for them.

How on earth do you move on in life when the one you’re meant to be with, the one you love, the one who makes your heart beat like no other, is from the same family? Belén and Luciano’s situation was so desperately unfair and I just couldn’t get enough of them when they were on the page together.

Belén and Luciano have earned themselves a place on my favourite couples list.

Maldeamores has it all:
taboo subject ✔︎
desperate love story ✔︎
bad boys ✔︎
super-hot sex scenes ✔︎
story that’ll pull at your heartstrings ✔︎
fantastic writing ✔︎

OH. MY. HEART. I loved this story!! The simple blurb intrigued me, the prologue hooked me, and from there onwards I couldn’t put it down. I know there are lots of books that you struggle to put down, but when I say I couldn’t put it down, I mean I couldn’t put it down. School run, work, toilet, that book went with me.
This is going to be a short review, I think less is more when it comes to books like this. The more you discover for yourself the better. I really just want to say READ IT NOW! Be warned though, this book put me through the wringer. The tension was unbearable at times!

Maldeamores is easily one of my favourite books of this year. If you like forbidden love stories then this one ticks all the boxes, It’s tortured, angsty, passionate, and pretty damn hot too! The chemistry between the two characters is off the scale, and even though I knew there were good reasons why they shouldn’t get it on, I was rooting for it to happen!

In any other romance, Luciano and  Belén would be the perfect couple, but they were far too closely related for them to act on their feelings. The story is spread over 20 years, and you see them growing up together, as very close playmates and then the gradual shift in their feelings as they both hit their teens. I really felt for Belén with her confusion over her feelings for Luciano. She was so conflicted and felt ashamed, but she couldn’t help herself. Lucky was just as tortured, but he took it upon himself to be the voice of reason. There was no limit to the lengths he would go to in order to make sure Belén was happy, even if it meant inflicting pain on himself.  As the story progressed, the emotions were so intense it was if you were there with them, and it was heartbreaking. It was an impossible situation for them, and I couldn’t help but wonder how it would end.

Mara White has hit this one WAY out of the ball park. This story has left a mark on me, I’m still thinking about it three weeks after reading the ARC.

Yes I read taboo romances. My favourite would have to be Their Stepsister by Alexa Riely. I have not read Maldeamores but I would love to.
