Became a tech billionaire by his twentieth birthday. Has been in a relationship with me for 3 years.
Has proposed 4 times. Been rejected 4 times.
Cuts grass when he’s not banging housewives. Good with his hands, his mouth, and his cock. Has been pursued relentlessly by me for almost 2 years, whether he knows it or not.
Go ahead. Judge me. You have no idea what my love entails.
If you think you’ve heard this story before, trust me – you haven’t.

It had been long enough. Any love there was would have to be strong enough. It was time. I needed to rip the roof off all of our lies.
Wowza! Alessandra Torre definitely knows how to write a compelling story. Her stories always feel very original and addictive and Black Lies was no exception.
Black Lies starts with Layana meeting Brant and the two of them hitting it off right away. Everything seems to be going smoothly, much to the distaste of Jillian, Brant’s aunt and right hand woman, when Layana discovers a secret Brant was keeping from her. After she finds out their relationship starts changing and continues to when she meets Lee. From there, lots of lies and secrets develop until they can’t help but reach a boiling point.
This was an interesting read for me. One on hand, I loved the originality of it and thoroughly enjoyed it, as I do with all books I read by Alessandra. Plus it was pretty hot so that was a nice bonus ;). But on the other hand, I figured out Brant’s secret pretty much as soon as I realized there was a secret, so for all of part 2 of the book I was just waiting for it to come out. And I guess the part that makes me hesitant about this book was whether or not I was supposed to figure it out as early as I did. It was almost like rereading a mystery and knowing who the killer was; it just lost some of that mystery that you get the first time you read it. Luckily for me, the secret came out with still quite a bit left in the book so I could see how it played out and how her relationships with Brant and Lee changed. Plus a lot of new things came about and more shockers were revealed.
This is definitely one of those books that the less I say the better. I usually don’t love all the characters when there are a lot of lies and deceit involved, but Alessandra wrote such great characters that I couldn’t help but love them. I loved them even when I didn’t necessarily agree with their actions. And that extends to some of Layana’s questionable actions when it came to Lee.
Now, if you’ve read Sex Love Repeat, you may think Black Lies is the same book, but trust me it’s not. It is the same in that one guy is rich and consumed by work and the other is poor and more of a guy’s guy. But, beyond that I never compared them or thought of Sex Love Repeat when reading.
Every story I’ve read from Alessandra always feels very original and I wish I could get inside her head to find out where she gets her ideas from. Her stories always intrigue me and I love her mix of mystery, sex, and romance. Plus, I always love her female leads and Layana was no exception, even when she was doing things I would never do.
Black Lies was definitely a good read. The story will suck you in right away and keep you reading faster and faster to see how it all plays out.
