Stacking the Shelves and Other News

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
and is a way of sharing the books we’ve added to our bookshelves this week.

It’s been a looooong time since I’ve done a stacking the shelves post and I decided it was time for me to start it up again since I LOVE sharing the books I’ve received or bought,

I also decided to make this the place to share my weekly news, bookish or otherwise!

Here’s what I got this week …
Bought – Paperback
TTBKTrouble by Non Pratt – Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan

I have recently rediscovered my love for YA and I can’t get enough of it. I’ve heard great things about Trouble so I can’t wait to read it, and ever since I met David Levithan and heard him read from Every Day last year I am obsessed with buying his books! I’m hoping for great things from Two Boys Kissing.

Bought – Kindle eBook
AKITDAAOA Kiss in the Dark by Cat Clarke – Against All Odds by Angie McKeon

A Kiss in the Dark is a book I heard about when I saw Danielle’s review over at What Danielle Did Next. I really trust her opinion on books and when I saw she loved this one I had to go get it. The blurb seems fairly innocent but the reviews definitely hint at something more. Angie McKeon is a new author but you may know her better as Angie from Angie’s Dreamy Reads. Her debut is getting rave reviews so when it was on sale this week I had to pick it up to find out more for myself.

For Review – Paperback
(with thanks to Simon & Schuster and Mira Ink)
CHLGLTSDSCraving Him by Kendall Ryan – Let’s Get Lost by Adi AlsaidThe Secret Diamond Sister by Michelle Madow

Craving Him just arrived yesterday morning and I may have actually squealed a little when I opened the envelope! I loved Working It, the first book in this series and I am dying to get to start Craving Him soon. I plan on reading the other two soon, they’re definitely going to help me keep up with the YA reading fest I’ve been having lately.

For Review – eBook
(with thanks to Entangled Teen)
MNSSSL1 My Not So Super Sweet Life by Rachel Harris

I finished this last night and LOVED IT! It’s the third book in the My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century series and didn’t disappoint. Look out for my review on Monday, which is also release day. Yay!

And now for my other news …

1. It’s been a strange week for me, one that’s passed me by in a bit of a blur! I have tonsillitis at the moment and I am feeling really sorry for myself because as well as my throat being painful I also have a stiff neck which is so painful 🙁 This is right after I hurt my back a couple of weeks ago. I feel like I’m falling apart!

2. In just over 5 weeks I am jetting off (I like that term!) from the UK to New York where I’ll be attending BEA for the first time ever. I am beyond excited to be going to BEA and I keep pinching myself to check that this is real life! I need to think about what to take soon, I can foresee me writing a LOT of lists in the next couple of weeks!

3. My oldest son is 8 and he’s finally agreed to give Roald Dahl’s books a try! He saw part of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a few years ago and was really freaked out by the kids disappearing in the factory, He refused to read any of his stories after that! Now he’s discovered, and likes, poetry that Dahl wrote and wants know more about his story writing. I can’t wait to sit and read the stories with him 🙂

Well, I think that’s all my news for this week. Anyone have anything to tell me?
Did you get any new books? Which ones?
Are you going to BEA? Any packing tips for me?!
Let me know!

I wish I could go to BEA. However, it coincides with the end of our school year and I can’t get the time off. Maybe I’ll get there after I retire. I hope your tonsillitis clears up soon. One of my fellow teachers just had her tonsils removed and was out of school for a couple of weeks. Come see what I got at Ms. Martin Teaches Media and Inside of a Dog. Happy reading!

      Hi Kathy

I’ve never had tonsillitis before and it. hurts! I dread to think of the pain if I had to have them removed!

I am solo excited for BEA. Not so much the flight over from the UK though! I need to load up my kindle with the books I plan to read on my flights. It’s just 37 days until I fly!

I’m a teaching assistant in a primary school and we don’t finish school here until July. The week I’m in New York is a week when the school has a week holiday anyway, so it worked out well for me!

I’m sorry you’re sick! 🙁 That’s awful. I hope you get well soon!

But yay for having BEA to look forward to! I’ve never been and I always sit at home in jealousy reading people’s posts about it. 🙂

I’m very curious about Let’s Get Lost! It looks cute and kind of different!

    Happy reading!! 😀

I am so excited for BEA, it will be my first trip to the US too. I’m flying in on my own so I’m a little nervous about that, I’m sure I’ll be fine though.

I haven’t looked at Let’s Get Lost yet but the reviews look really good so that’s a plus!
