Photographer Sierra Stratton views the world through a lens all her own. She has an uncanny sense about people, something that often causes her trouble. When she meets the sexy and brooding Evan Dorsey, her intuition tells her he’s suffering, and she wants to be the one to help him.
Evan isn’t open to help from anyone, however. His focus is on his Major League career and making himself as marketable as possible for his upcoming free agency. He plans to ride out the season in Atlanta and then sign with another team, away from the painful memories that haunt him.
Someone’s eager to send him on his way, too. Between anonymous threats and equipment sabotage, it’s clear he’s earned himself an enemy along the way. To him, it’s one more sign that he’s right to move on.
But Sierra threatens his conviction. Her contagious smile proves hard to resist, as does her kiss. She tempts him in ways he never anticipated, making him question his plans for the first time. If he’s not careful, she might just convince him that he’s meant for her.
REVIEWED BY SARAH
*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*
He was used to seeing her bright smile. He was used to her positive, sunshine-like energy. He was used to her making others feel better…giving at least one of them a reason to get up every day.
He’d just learned that seeing her cry could bring him to his knees.
I am all too familiar with a book making me cry. Huge, crocodile shatter my soul tears. Something grips you so strongly, you know nothing else to do but weep. Never has a book made me cry happy tears though. As I stood outside earlier finishing this story, my heart literally burst, my soul feeling anew. This took me completely by surprise, and I just knew I had to write about it.
There were times when she wished she had known him before the sorrow took hold of his heart. It would give her an idea of what she was helping him try to recover.
Meant For Her is a story about life after death. It is a story about your fears and letting love back into your heart. It’s a story about standing true to your convictions, no matter how many people try to convince you otherwise. This is the story of Sienna and Evan. We first meet them at their friend’s wedding. Unbeknownst to them, they make a connection, only to quickly part ways. We pick back up four months later, and this is where the rest of the story ensues.
These were dangerous waters, he knew. Yet right then, he found himself willing to drown in them.
I don’t think I have ever quite connected with a character like I did with Sienna. Ever the optimist, she looks on the bright side of every situation and tries to, not only find the good in every one, but give them the benefit of the doubt. As a rule, I do as well, and quite often I catch grief about it. Sienna has a passion for many things; one being her photography and the other being her dog Leo. This story incorporated many things that you don’t usually see in books. Her dog, as well as both of Evan’s, were basically secondary characters, rather than just on the sidelines. They treated them like their children, and the love bled through the pages.
Another theme that pleasantly shocked me was the fact that not only was Sienna’s parents gay, but so was another couple briefly featured in the book. These relationships were shown to be healthy, working, and loving which was quite refreshing. Too often they are looked down upon, and it sickens me. This book restored my hope that humanity will one day all be on the same page. One love.
Sierra didn’t have pity in her eyes, though. She had tears of genuine sadness, as though she was taking his pain and making it hers.
I won’t go much into Evan, because he was so delicious I want you to discover him on your own. I found myself slowly turning each page, not wanting the story to end. I went into this book not knowing much about it, and came out one of its’ biggest fans! I absolutely fell in LOVE with Meant For Her and immediately bought the companion novel, For Everly. For Everly actually takes place before Meant For Her, but this isn’t a series. I believe that Evan is in that book briefly, but it is all about Everly and Cole.
5 star read for me! Can’t wait to read more by this author <3
There was something more intimate about their joining this time. More loving. He kissed her like she was the source of his vitality, like it would be insufferable to part from her.
