Skye followed her long time boyfriend to Seattle for their first year of college, but he dumped her after only a week. The relationship brought only pain and destruction in Skye's life, and yet, she can't bring herself to open up and live her life.
"What if I am already broken into pieces?"
She hates to be touched, hiding under her oversized shirts and behind her wild frizzy hair. Even her bubbly roommate can't reach her. And yet ...
"I'm the guy who knows how you can hurt so much that your insides feel like they're cut and bleeding."
The tall, handsome, and tattooed TA in her psychology class changes everything when he literally collides with her and confronts her. For the first time in a long time, she wants to try and open up to this guy whose dark, intense eyes can't hide his own pain despite his dazzling smile getting to her.
However, just when she's starting to live again, her ex-boyfriend comes back, breaking her time and time again, making it all the more complicated.
She wants to fight for herself and for this building thing with the TA, even when he pushes her away, but can two broken people patch each other up?
"I never thought colliding with someone could change lives, but it is possible."

* I received an E-ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review *
Skye Walker (don’t go there, she’s heard all the Star Wars Jokes to last a life time!) has moved from Boston to Seattle to attend college with her boyfriend of 3 years, only to be dumped by him within a week of arriving
She retreats into herself and doesn’t engage with anyone until she literally runs into Duke – the tall tattooed TA in her psychology class. Duke see’s something of himself in Skye and wants to get to know her better, but she has a lot of barriers that he needs to break through first.
Duke and Skye are both broken, by things that have happened to them in the past, although in Skye’s case it is still happening to her. Her ex is still on the scene, intent on making her life hell.
I wanted to like Skye but she makes it pretty hard. She’s closed off and doesn’t make an effort with anyone. Her room-mate Kate tries really hard to engage with her but she just shoots her down most of the time. I really liked Kate, she was down to earth, and despite not getting much encouragement from Skye, she made an effort to get to know her. She wanted to be a friend to her, if only Skye would let her.
Skye and Duke’s relationship is very strange. They blow hot and cold with each other, so much so that I could have gotten whiplash from their mood swings! She doesn’t want to get involved in a relationship or even a friendship with Duke, but then when he withdraws from her she goes looking for him. He comes on strong again and she pulls away. She comes on strong and he lashes out at her…. it seemed like a never ending story.
The last few pages of the book were pretty harrowing and some scenes were pretty heavy. It all ended so abruptly, but then I read afterwards that there is going to be a sequel, and then there’s going to be Kate’s book too. I will read the sequel as I want to know what happens with Skye and Duke, as they clearly still have a lot of issues to overcome.
