Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

For this week’s Waiting on Wednesday pick I have chosen

Unspoken (The Lynburn Legacy #1)

by Sarah Rees Brennan

which will be released on 11th September 2012.

Kami Glass loves someone she’s never met . . . a boy she’s talked to in her head ever since she was born. She wasn’t silent about her imaginary friend during her childhood, and is thus a bit of an outsider in her sleepy English town of Sorry-in-the-Vale. Still, Kami hasn’t suffered too much from not fitting in. She has a best friend, runs the school newspaper, and is only occasionally caught talking to herself. Her life is in order, just the way she likes it, despite the voice in her head.

But all that changes when the Lynburns return.

The Lynburn family has owned the spectacular and sinister manor that overlooks Sorry-in-the-Vale for centuries. The mysterious twin sisters who abandoned their ancestral home a generation ago are back, along with their teenage sons, Jared and Ash, one of whom is eerily familiar to Kami. Kami is not one to shy away from the unknown—in fact, she’s determined to find answers for all the questions Sorry-in-the-Vale is suddenly posing.

Who is responsible for the bloody deeds in the depths of the woods? What is her own mother hiding? And now that her imaginary friend has become a real boy, does she still love him? Does she hate him? Can she trust him?

I have previously never read anything by Sarah Rees Brennan but I have heard that she’s a great writer so I went searching on Goodreads to see which of her books I fancied reading first. I came across The Demon’s Lexicon which sounded like a book I’d like to read (so I bought it on Amazon!) and then I found Unspoken which has got me eagerly anticipating its release. I really like the idea of an imaginary childhood friend actually turning out to be a real person and someone that may not be good for Kami after all. I can’t wait to read Unspoken.

What is your WoW pick for this week? I would love to hear!

Unspoken is next on my read list so I’m excited! Though I have yet to read any of Sarah Rees Brennan’s published works, I used to be a huge fan of her HP fanfiction back in the day!

Oooh, I LOVE Harry Potter! I will have to see if there’s any of the fanfic still on the web. Thanks x

Yeah, I’m a sucker for pretty covers! It’s the blurb that is the decider for me but it’s hard to get past a boring cover to read the blurb!
